HELP - How can I import Impulse Responses to Space Designer?

HELP - How can I import Impulse Responses to Space Designer?

2009-04-27 by Man Parrish

Hey Folks,

First....
There are some great FREE impulse responses from the famed studio Lexicon 960L series here. This is the big reverb major studios use:

http://practicalsampling.com/downloads

I want to import them in to Space Designer [in Logic 8 Pro].
So, before I loose my friggin mind as I can't find this online or in the manual...

How do you import these reverb impulses ?
Tried placing in the various directories where I see impulses stored, etc..

Thanx in advance, enjoy the free-bee impulses !

Hey MP,

Here's what you do:

1. Basically you can put your 960 folder where ever you like but i'd
put them here:
     HD/Library/Audio/Impulse Responses

2. Load up a Space Designer, right to the left of the window showing
the IR's waveform threre's a circular control module that says "IR
Sample" on top.
Now, you can see a little arrow indicating a dropdown menu right
next to the word "IR Sample". Press that arrow and select "Load IR",
browse your way
to your desired IR and ,,,,it's loaded!

3. You probably want to save this as a plug in setting, so you can
come back to it in another song. Just save your preset and it will
take you to your user folder
for Space Designer plug in settings. (user/Library/Application
Support/Logic/Plug-In Settings/Space Designer)

Re: HELP - How can I import Impulse Responses to Space Designer?

2009-04-28 by Gil Gillian

Hi, thanks, what excellent fun. Just spent most of the morning playing. There's even more on http://www.bigbluelounge.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=14100 , sure beats working. Has anyone catalogued the 960 IR's, or any others for that matter? The 960 name only gives a general starting point, e.g.halls 1_02_dc.wav is a huge 38 sec hall reverb with 5 echo taps within it, whereas halls 1_03_dc.wav is a warm large hall reverb of about 4 seconds.
Thanks again,
Gil

Re: Import Impulse Responses - Thank You Erik

Hi, Erik, or anyone else who'd like to respond,

Several days back, you showed MP how to load up the folder of 960L impulses. I got that done, no problem, as it was basically the same as loading new EXS samples.

All fine. Once done, I fooled around with far too many more than I should have here at the office. ;-) Still, one other question, and maybe it relates to this:

Yes, I can load one at a time, rename it if I want, and keep coming back to it through the first step. But can I get them indexed and visible in the black dropdown menu (where Apple's five folders live)? Once I've put new EXS Samples in, I refresh the EXS Menu and there they are. I can't yet see how to do the same for these.

If my question's not quite clear, this image may help:
