Please Help! How do I add a cutoff filter to my drums?

hi, noob here. It's been about 3 months but i'm still trying to wrap my mind around Logic. I'm making Drum and Bass music, and its important for me to be able to have a cutoff filter and be able to pitch bend. When I try this with automation, i click voice 1, then click cut off filter but it does absolutely nothing. What am I doing wrong?
