Pity it's Intel only...
G5 users cry quietly into their beer...

The flex tools seem pretty cool. Also the sampler feature makes Recycle
unnecessary. I wonder if there are any new plug ins or other new
features or bug fixes not mentioned. Its $199 upgrade.

	They sure do

It certainly seems as if they have put quite a bit of effort
into improving dealing with sampled audio.

It seems as if the only new plugins are the guitar related
ones - Amp Designer and the Pedalboard stompbox collection. The Amp
designer is nice - I'm not sure how much new stuff the Pedboard stomp
box stuff will give you if you aren't a guitar playing vintage gear
specialist. The examples do sound pretty nice, though.

It also seems that Mainstage has basically had the features
added that it needed to become really useful - backing tracks,
rewire, inbuilt recording, etc.
	Cheers

My problem with using the Logic cut up samples is that it doesn't do a
very good job---they sound rough, scratchy and with lots of noise or
distortion--you really need to get Recycle or something else that cuts
samples up into Rex files....
I know it's probably a little early to ask this but does anyone have
any knowledge of how well this new sampler feature in Logic 9 works?

Bound to be but as all the other DAW's have released new products
Apple had to bite the bullet I guess !!!

My guess, and I have not read every thing through completely yet, is
that they have also added features to make use of Snow Leopards new 64
bit & scheduler etc improvements and these will kick in when snow
leopard eventually hits the floor. With luck that will make the
software s quicker, and even more efficient.

They also release the video partner application (Final Cut) too
because obviously the products are almost a pair in some ways and
share a lotta functionality...

According to the Forums etc it is not Intel only.. Apple just don't
mention older systems because in many cases the systems are no longer
supported hardware.
But there are users on the Apple Logic Studio Forum that a have
installed and are using it on G5's. so no need to panic.. - except
depending on your config ala memory etc..

Move to quarantaine

This moves the raw source file on disk only. The archive index is not changed automatically, so you still need to run a manual refresh afterward.
