Can I run Logic 8 and Protools LE 8 at the same time? I want to trigger at PT midi instrument track while I am writing in Logic. Isn't there a way to do this involving the IAC driver? thanks, Lee

Hi.. Have you checked out the REWIRE functionality.. That may be a
good way to do it?
Never done it myself but rewire allows you to link two applications
together and play them both controlled and sync'd from one right!!

There used to be a thing called midi machine control ... and you could link PT and Logic via that ... but i never got it to work and gave up. Rewire has come along from propellarheadz in the meantime. Probably its best to use one program at a time, and import/export audio and bounces.

Yea! I figured it out. I created a new instrument in the Logic environment. I set the port to IAC driver bus 1. I created a track for that instr. in the arrange window. In PT, in the midi studio setup window, I clicked on the IAC icon, then Get info, then checked "device is online" box. On my PT instrument track I selected IAC driver, bus1 for the midi input. Now I can record a midi track in Logic and it will play the PT plugin instr. The audio goes out the M Box output, so if I use it I have to record it back into Logic via analog inputs. I really like the presets in the Xpand PT plugin instr. On Aug 5, 2009, at 2:25 PM, Steve Currington wrote: > Hi.. Have you checked out the REWIRE functionality.. Lee, What's an IAC driver? I was looking into doing this (PT and Logic at the same time) between two computers. Pretty cool that you figured out how to do this "in the box"!! FYI MMC (MIdi Machine Control) is for transport controls and still can be used (with my Yamaha 01v I do that sometimes). Pete

The IAC driver icon should appear in the Apple midi studio setup window. Now I'm trying to figure out how to slave PT to Logic. At this point I can't record the PT plugin's output to a PT track because I'm getting CPU overload warning with both programs open. So, I have to try importing the midi data I am writing in Logic to PT.
