Hmm Interesting - MAC users only

Hmm Interesting - MAC users only

I have found that Snow Leopard boots by default in 32 bit Kernel etc .
Reason is I guess some drivers are only 32 bit to it ensures better
compatibility?
You can check out your running mode by looking at the MAC system
profiler utility.
Highlight "Software" and see what it says in

      64-bit Kernel and Extensions:	Yes
or
     64-bit Kernel and Extensions:	No

If you are running in 32 bit ala 64 bit = N then you can test your
apps in 64bit
by pressing the "6" & "4" keys at boot.. This will temporarily put
the mac into 64 bit

NB Below (or attached) is a small chat that shows which MAC computers
can run 64bit mode.

If you wanna know more check

The above chart is also on the site.

There is a small app here that will show you the modes etc and also
enable you to permanently swap the modes to
either 32 bit (the snow leopard default) - or 64Bit..

I have swapped to 64 bit and my iMAC is running much quicker.. Apps
start at "lightning speed" and other stuff just runs quicker.. I am
impressed.

I am impressed because Sibelius v6.03 & Logic v9, my two main apps,
run well and quickly.

Anyway.. if you are interested check it out
