Clueless newbie

Clueless newbie

2010-07-31 by BrianH

Hello all-
I am using Logic Express 7 on an old e-mac. I am getting a signal through my ART tube mp, and it shows up on the screen since I created an aggregate device thanks to someone's reply on here some months ago.

Now I am not able to monitor the microphone. Itunes plays through headphones, as do alerts. I have software monitoring selected. I don't know what else to do.

Any advice?

Thanks in advance--
Brian

Brian,

When you open up Logic, go to preferences/audio.

Make sure the audio in and out are what you want them to be. Logic tends to remember what you were using as the Logic prefered audio interface on the last session, and doesn't care what you designated with the system/finder preferences.

I think that should fix it. But you may want/need to click on the small letter i next to the solo/mute etc buttons. Not sure if that's an option in Logic 7 express, but it would let you monitor the input. If not, it will probably let you monitor with a little bit of delay (adjusted by changing the buffer size in Logic preferences).

Let us know if that works or not.

       Pete

Hi Pete-
Thanks for the advice. What ended up working was to trash the Logic plist in preferences, then restart. There had been a glitch of some sort.

Part of the problem with the audio hardware section is it just says "driver", so you don't know if that's in or out, so know ing what to choose can be impossible without trial and error.

Thanks again Pete!

Move to quarantaine
