Hey, I was thinking it might be fun to upload pictures of our studios or MP3s of our music to the FILES section.

Hi Gregory, How about a critique area so that some of the more experienced people on the list can help some of us amateurs/hobbyists do a better job with our song writing/producing? I was thinking of being able to upload a song and to be able to include a cover note to ask for specific help. Like: Hey, what can I do to make the brass section sound better?; Why does the intro sound so plain and uninteresting?; Help! Please give me any help you can on any aspect of the song. If you think it would a good idea, I would suggest that there be only one rule: If you can't suggest a way to improve something, please do not comment on it at all. In other words, reply to provide help, or don't reply at all. Kamm

I am involved in a very active community of electronic musicians that do this on a site specifically made for it. The catch is that it's really aimed at people making electronica, not organic stuff. It's really made for artist to artist communication and has a review system and stuff. If anyone is interested shoot me a private email. Since the genre thing is pretty narrow at mine... I think it's a great idea to have a more general one for the list. -- Ben Harrison

As a thought... can you create a poll with a write in field? Lance > Sounds like a good idea, Kamm. Regarding Polls, I can add anything anybody wants.. the only problem is that everytime I add anything, then all of the votes get erased and people have to revote. Why don't we spend a few days, and everybody send me all their suggestions for things to be on the polls, ... Then we'll leave it fixed at that. By the way, I uploaded a few spreadsheets which are useful for logic - showing ticks and milliseconds for various beat divisions and tempos. I think we can add LINKS too - so if anyone has a website for their music or their band or their studio, we can include all those in the LINKS section. (Obviously no spam or porno sites please). Regarding Kamm's idea about uploading music and allowing for comments, I think that will work too - there is a way to create a file on the fly to upload... which could go in the same folder for anyone who uploads music. Years ago, I bought several Logic CDs where each track was by a different member of the LUG. It was eye-openning to me because much of the music was very s tandard non-electric - jazzy even. But there was a wide variety there. Regarding the color scheme of the Logic_Cafe website, please tell me which color is offensive. I have been meaning to use photoshop to create some custom colors to use. I want to make a little more neutral coffeeish colors. For now I was using some of the Yahoo customs colors. There is a different color cast to Mac and PC monitors however. Greg

Your spreadsheets seem useful enough for those hard to hit notes and a general overall uniformity, but looking at the group home page I would have thought you'd put them under "database" instead. Normally I just lurk over this group but since you look like you took the time to work out those charts I broke into reply. I could swear that I read something about this in the L7 manual, but I can't find it now. Is there a way to add notes (text notes about what synths and settings you used, etc.) to an L7 project that becomes part of the project? Kamm
