Hi Don/Paul et al Thanks for replying, I would appreciate a picture of the boot lock as I am confused a little by mie new one, the old lock (which I never had the key for) was always in the unlocked position so I never really thought about how it worked - the back of it however was just left unmodified with just a bolt head screwed in the back, so I can only assume that the action of turning the key stop the button being pressed at all. the new one when the key is inserted and turned merly rotates the hole mechanism (also just a screw currently), and can still be pressed when locked. Now I am guessing that from what you have said that it should have a plate on the back of it which pressumably either jams when turned or missed the striker release in some way so as not to open the boot? - a picture would be much appreciated thanks Don. My next task is to get the doors back on and the locking mechanisms installed and working the locks are already in the doors - I am sure everyone remembers the can of worms I opened with that one a while back! It is atually quite a scary thought that other than sorting out the engine and gear box (which touch wood should be straight forward), I might even have the car on the road this year and make use of the insurance I've paid for! Another question - this time a little easier, I've read through the many manuals I now have (and Jeff has the PDF's ready for his fab site), and discovered that my read axle is not correctly adjusted (it is not equidistant from each side of the chassis rails). Would it make sense that this would explain why I can not get the new handbrake cable fitted? Interestingly I was chatting to one of my neighbours about what I was up to and when I told him I was rebuilding a Marcos he got very excited saying that he used to own one - I wonder if it was anyones here, I will try and get more info out of him, all that he said which confused me was it was a wooden chassis Ford Straight six?, I questioned him whether he meant Triumph of Volvo but he was quite adament it was Ford, he even rebuilt and hand painted the engine before putting it back in the car, only to discover that all his hard work was hidden below the chassis! - Was the Volvo engine shared with Ford by chance? Any way enough of my ramblings, I will no doubt be back with more questions soon as my rebuild progresses!
