Hi Dave, Could you be more specific with your description. Are you referring to the rose joints, the bushings supporting the steering shaft? If so, the usual problem is that the shaft rotates within the bushing, wearing the shaft. Ideally, the shaft should remain fixed with the bush doing the rotating. It's a common problem for the bush to get dry and stop rotating. Usually by the time you realise it, no amount of oil will persuade the bush to resume it's job. The solution is to replace the rose joints and sometimes the shaft as well if it's too worn.
