Andy,

I remember Tim Lalonde from the 1963 Nurburgring run. All the "factory"
cars failed with clutch trouble. I had taken the precaution of fitting
a larger diaphragm clutch and went on to finish 2nd.

I have not seen Tim since that time, do you have his address? I have
been in touch with Steve Minoprio and he is featured on the
Motorsnippets Drivers Database. I also have an article from Silverstone
which features Tim and some of the other Marcos entries. And there is
another from the Oulton Park Gold Cup meeting.

Why not put your own details and photo on there, you can do it on-line.
If we encouraged all the Marcos Maniacs to do so we would then know what
we all look like! You have seen me in the old article, but I am on the
database in old age too.

I am on the track of an early Marcos in Canada and will know quite soon
which car it is.

Best wishes for Christmas and the New Year.

John

Dear John,

Thank you for that recommendation! The photography is exceptional.

The Gullwing car in Japan of which Christian is writing is chassis
#2006,
which Stephen Minoprio used to very good effect in the 1962 Autosport
Championship. Tim Lalonde then bought the car from Stephen in 1963.
Tim
later co-drove Mini Marcos 270DGJ with Billy Dulles in the 1966 Grand
Premeo
de Mugello. I owned and raced #2006 when I was posted to duty in
Germany
from 1994 - 1997, competing primarily with the German GTM historic
racing
series in those years, other than a few odd HSCC events in the UK, etc.

Tim Lalonde and Stephen Minoprio are well and continue to keep a hand
in;
Stephen even won his FIA historic class outright in his Marcos 1800
Volvo
App. K car a few years back... he remains a very quick man indeed! He
also
competes in a yellow Chevron B16 with Mazda (!) power -- a lovely car.

I understand you are looking for your old car in the California /
Pacific
area. I have no information or leads for you but if I hear something I
will
certainly pass it along to you in a personal email.

Happy Holidays and Best Wishes to All!
Andy
