Re: [MarcosManiacs] Another Marcos on eBay

Hi Donny,

was the car registered in UK ? and do you have the original number plate from this time ? If yes you can ask in UK the central register in Taunton for the history of the car. In UK the number plate allways go with the car and they will send for around 10 US$ all the papers they have, the chassis number included as well all pre-owners in UK.

There is no other place for the chassis-numbers. On my car I found the original registration number written with chalk on the backside of the seat moulds and some interior trim parts, probably for assembling.

I saw a ex-US-Marcos (3-ltr. Volvo Auto-gearbox) were the chassis number was marked inside the door windowframe. The owner told me that this is normal in USA. In Germany we have to have the chassis number stamped on the chassis. I don“t kow one Marcos in Germany were this was done by the factory in UK.

Garry, I checked Rory's web site and he does offer both the plastic badge as well as an enamel one. The enamel one is 70 British pounds (about $128.00) as Don pointed out. Does he stock these and has anyone seen the quality? I may call him tomorrow morning to to inquire about these, as well as where to find my real chassis number. He has confirmed that my car is not #5846. Has anyone found a number on their car other than the build plaque? He suggested looking under the top dash cover for a chalk/crayon number, but no luck. All I am sure of is my car is an early rhd steel-chassied V4 car.
By the way, thanks to those that offered suggestions regarding the badges. I'll follow up on some of the leads.

There is a company in England which specialises in reproducing faithful
copies of obsolete badges ( they have done a Marcos badge) for about $250
each. If we could commit to 10 the price would come down to about$200. I
need three, and if enough others are willing to order I would bring them
back with me the end of October.
Let me know

Garry
