Another Marcos on eBay

Another Marcos on eBay

2005-08-16 by Donny Lang

Car #5078 has been listed in the Long Beach,Ca. area. It is a 1600 and
is disassembled, with a much of the rebuilding completed. Looks like a
good project for someone out there to complete!

The lead photo on the listing teases me. It is of the front Marcos
enameled badge. I still need one of these for mine. Anyone out there
have one they want to part with? I bought one of the new plastic ones
from Rory, but its just not the same! - Donny

And a Mini Marcos GT on eBay as well!

2005-08-16 by Andy&Alison Seward

There's also a very nice looking Mini Marcos Mk 4 (longer wheelbase than Mk
1 - Mk 3 plus opening rear hatch) listed today on eBay at item number
4568999153. It's listed as a never-completed kit. Here's the Link:

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Other-Makes-Mini-Marcos-Mk-IV-Mini-Marcos-Mk-IV-never-assembled-RARE-LOOOOOOK_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQcategoryZ6472QQitemZ4568999153QQrdZ1

Latest status on Marcos chassis #2006 (1962 Gullwing) -- still working out
the arrangments for shipping from Japan. Language issues have slowed the
process. However, it now looks as though she will arrive at the port of
Long Beach via 20ft container in mid-September. Can't wait to sit in and
race my old Marcos again! Wish me luck.

From time to time you will find a enamel badge in EBAY Europe. Prices are most in the region of 100 to 130 english pounds. I know 2 persons who had sometime ago such a item offered.

Send me a private mail and I will give you the names, perhaps this will help you.

Donny,
I also bought a plastic one and did not like it. My origional badge needed complete re enameling and plating. I found a place in Australia that reworked it at $213 USD. Sorry I don't have a spare.

Donny,

Enamel badges are available from Rory now. 70GBP is the price. I
haven't seen them myself.

Missed that #5078 for sale, thanks.

Looks like the one in San Anselmo is off Ebay. I'll contact ADrian
and see what happened.

You can now buy new enamel badges form Rory or Isobel at CMI for 75
british pounds.

I haven't seen one so I can't comment on how good they are, but if you
contact Isobel I'm sure she will be able to let you know.

There is a company in England which specialises in reproducing faithful
copies of obsolete badges ( they have done a Marcos badge) for about $250
each. If we could commit to 10 the price would come down to about$200. I
need three, and if enough others are willing to order I would bring them
back with me the end of October.
Let me know

Re: [MarcosManiacs] Another Marcos on eBay

Garry, I checked Rory's web site and he does offer both the plastic badge as well as an enamel one. The enamel one is 70 British pounds (about $128.00) as Don pointed out. Does he stock these and has anyone seen the quality? I may call him tomorrow morning to to inquire about these, as well as where to find my real chassis number. He has confirmed that my car is not #5846. Has anyone found a number on their car other than the build plaque? He suggested looking under the top dash cover for a chalk/crayon number, but no luck. All I am sure of is my car is an early rhd steel-chassied V4 car.
By the way, thanks to those that offered suggestions regarding the badges. I'll follow up on some of the leads.

Hi Donny,

was the car registered in UK ? and do you have the original number plate from this time ? If yes you can ask in UK the central register in Taunton for the history of the car. In UK the number plate allways go with the car and they will send for around 10 US$ all the papers they have, the chassis number included as well all pre-owners in UK.

There is no other place for the chassis-numbers. On my car I found the original registration number written with chalk on the backside of the seat moulds and some interior trim parts, probably for assembling.

I saw a ex-US-Marcos (3-ltr. Volvo Auto-gearbox) were the chassis number was marked inside the door windowframe. The owner told me that this is normal in USA. In Germany we have to have the chassis number stamped on the chassis. I don“t kow one Marcos in Germany were this was done by the factory in UK.
