Don,
My car is a 1969 (October delivery in the UK) that
was painted MidChroma Yellow, but resprayed Artic White before it left the
factory delaying delivery about 3 weeks. Rory has sent a new ID tag along with a
copy of the build files, but they are still in transit. I will see if it has a
2M prefix when I receive it. Larry Meadows contacted me saying his car
had the chassis number (and car color) hand written on the dash sub-panel
behind the speedo and tach. I pulled out my gauges, and there was 5514 mid c
yellow in red felt tip marker! Rory has confirmed other details that this is
correct.
I spoke with Hayes a short time ago, and he said he
saw Michael Crews this past January in Daytona and he still had the car Hayes
sold to him at that time. Hayes was interested to see the documentation on the
one on eBay as far as being the show /magazine car which he had with the car
when he owned the one sold to Michael Crews. He said he thought that there were
only 3 Volvo automatic sold in the USA; the show car (yellow), one in New
England for sale over a year ago (? color), and Larry Meadows car (white). Hayes
also said his former one had a replacement bonnet, in addition to the features I
pointed out on my earlier response. I looked VERY closely at the car when Hayes
was selling it and almost bought that one. I think the one currently offered on
eBay is the one I looked at that Hayes sold to Michael Crews. Does someone
want to contact Michael Crews?

And what's the correct year?I thought this car looked familiar. I thought Michael Crews got it in West Virginia? Please let us know what Hayes has to say. I'm really curious! Thanks.Don#3M5759----- Original Message -----From: Donny LangSent: Wednesday, August 31, 2005 11:40 PMSubject: Re: [MarcosManiacs] eBay Alert: Marcos 3 Liter for saleAndy and others,This car looks like the one Hayes Harris (Wire Wheel,Vero Bch, FL) may have sold in 2002 or 2003. He had a Marcos that was supposed to be the magazine/show car that I looked at before I settled for my project car. It was Chroma Yellow with black interior, Volvo w/ automatic (with a moderate leak!), Lotus taillights, recessed door handles, tempered glass rear window, bolstered center console, Marcos name on the petal box, and Marcos alloys including spare. I even recognize the steering wheel with the 5 hub screws instead or the usual 6. I'm sure this is the same car I test drove. I will call Hayes tomorrow to follow up to see if it went to California. If it is the same car, it was in really nice shape.Donny Lang #5514 (yes, I finally found the correct identity of my car, thanks to Larry!)----- Original Message -----From: Andy&Alison SewardSent: Wednesday, August 31, 2005 11:22 PMSubject: [MarcosManiacs] eBay Alert: Marcos 3 Liter for saleWhose car is this? Surely someone will recognize it...
Seller (eurocol) says this car is the 1970/71 N.Y. Motor Show car and was
featured in Car & Driver magazine December 1970.
