Mike, My thoughts on fitting Sway bars. I have fitted a 1 inch sway bar to the front of my steel frame 3 liter and you can see the mounting if you go to my website and look at the pictures in the Racing section. www.marcospartsusa.com However, before making the decision you really need to decide the current handling characteristics and whether they suit your driving needs. Then you have to look at the effect of not just a sway bar, but springs and dampers. Here is what I did with the rationale( remember mine is excusively for racing). Since the 3 liter motor is very heavy I chose 350lb front springs and a 1" bar, to to combat the tendency for the car to roll over the outside front tyre on heavy cornering, and help transfer some of the weight to the inside front wheel. On the rear, I use 160lb springs and no sway bar to allow some compliance in the rear and reduce the tendency to hop on corner exit. The result is a neutral handling car on fast corners with a slight oversteer on slow and medium corners which can be controlled through the throttle. While I have not yet reached the full potential of the car, which may mean some changes, it handles well in the dry and is predictable in the wet where we can worry the Porsche 911's. The Bar is from a Triumph Spitfire, slightly modified and the mountings are my own design. I should say however that Marcos did a pretty good job on the basic design and should probably be Ok for the street. If you decide to go with a bar, let me know and i can supply one.
