Finally gave up and re-registered for this board as Yahoo would not recognize my old pass-word. I recently bought a 1600 GT that is in need of full restoration, despite the former owner stating he had spent about $25,000 on it around 1980. I have no idea where his money went, the car seems to need everything, even allowing for it's having sat for the past 25 years I do not see what he got for his money beyond the overweight Jap engine. If I can get it running with the current Mazzzzdaaaaa rotary I will, until I can complete the build up of a "warm" Alfa-Romeo 2000 to put in it. I have to hope the "restorer" who put the Mazda in did not butcher the chassis to do so. So I will be scrounging for parts. The main items I will be looking for are a new windshield, and a set of wheels to replace the 8 spoke Minilite's that are on it. I would rather have the original wheels, or a wire wheel conversion. I know I will have to go through the brakes completely. I am hoping the chassis is OK, but expect it to need major work after sitting outside for so long in an area with high humidity as it is near open water, it is also an area that gets lots of rain every year. Rumor has it that there is another Marcos owner on this board who has "an Italian engine" in his car. I would like more detail on that conversion.
