If memory serves, Okume was the plywood used by the Marcos Factory. Jack Myers might be able to confirm this. That doesn't mean that Okume is the best or greatest since there are a lot of factors used by factories when choosing materials including cost, availability etc. However, it seems like I read somewhere that the Marcos factory used Okume because it was really light while still having the necessary strength.

Here is a list of the high-grade plywood readily available to me from Aircraft Spruce.
Most of it comes in pretty small sheets, but should be large enough for patching.

1/4 Inch Birch/Basswood Plywood
BASSWOOD MIL-P-6070 PLYWOOD
OKUME PLYWOOD
ROYAL MARINE A-A FIR PLYWOOD
FINISH BIRCH AIRCRAFT PLYWOOD (METRIC)
DOMESTIC PLYWOOD

So which would be most correct?

Still looking at the proper technique to use too.
