Twan, I have a relay and switch on mine. The switch is mounted on the gearbox and is engaged by the shift lever when the car is put in reverse. You will BREAK the overdrive if you operate it in reverse!! There is a schematic on Saxby's site: http://homepage.ntlworld.com/mark.saxby/marcos/ Click on "technical", then click on "1981 build manual" there is a page on there for "Ford V6 with overdrive". Don't forget the reverse lamps need to be activated also. Let me know if you need more help.
