Re: [MarcosManiacs] New Marcos Owner (Re: Marcos for Sale soon...)

Marvin,

I am about to finish my restoraton, and I spent 2 year trying to make the body as uniform as possible. The roof line on the right side over the window frame is about 3/8" shy of covering the frame and is lower on the right rear windscreen than on the left. This is on the 1970 models I know as I have redone 2 of them. I reshaped the roof both over the door and rear screen. Also, I trued all gaps around doors, bonnet and boot lid. The spacing around the door seals have been reshaped so seal touches evenly all around. Before, there was several areas of no contact that made for a noisy ride with the wind whistling at speeds above 25 MPH.
There are several places to wathh for structual cracks whe (if) you remove the body. Buzz me if you get to that point and I'll be glad to advise you, if you want to go to all that trouble. The '80 model may not have these problems, but the badies were made from the same molds, soI expect they are the same.

Regards,
Larry

Hello all,

I am the new owner of Paul's SN 8083 Marcos... and I apologize for the delay in entering the chat room. I was a previous Marcos owner (1970 Marcos GT, Volvo drivetrain, I think the SN was 3570). It needed a full restoration, and after a few years I sold it to a guy near Vancouver, BC. I've always missed it.

"Paul's Marcos" is nice... a strong engine and good brakes, but I will probably update the interior soon. I will be looking for odds and ends... things like the "Marcos" badge that fits on the trunk lid, and ideas to improve the overall appearance.

Sincerely,

Marvin Miller
