Check the colour of the fluid. If it is black, it means that the rubber seals in the system are deteriorating due to a reaction with the existing brake fluid. Flush the entire system with DOT 3 brake fluid that is compatible with natural rubber.
Most non-british�cars use seals made of synthetic rubber and�require ordinary brake fluid.
I use CASTROL LMA Brake Fluid (Low Moisture Absorbant) in all my british cars. My friends do the same.
LOCKHEED and GIRLING DOT 3 Brake Fluids are appropriate but are not�readily available�at the parts store. But specialized shops for british cars (MOSS; VICTORIA BRITISH; WELCH; etc) carry them.
Use the same fluid for both, brake and clutch systems.
