I live in California, and there are several wood chassis cars on the road. I would reach out to Denman Mike [mikedenman@...]. He has a very cool (and fast) wooden chassis car which he has owned and driven on the road and track in California for several years.

Bob & Richard,

I am going on the advice of the man who rescued my 1959 Marcos Chassis number 2. He claims that he could not register the car for road use in California.

I assumed he was correct. Anyway I think you should check it out with the licensing authority in the State where you are living.

I also have a 1969 wood chassis 3000 GT and may well be going to Florida to live so it is a lively question for me too. ; It may also affect my decision on the 1959 car.

My wood chassis 1600 GT was titled and registered in Kalifornia before being parked until I rescued it.

Berkley Roadsters were registered there, and they have Fiberglass chassis!

John,
I'm curious to know why the wood chassis cars can't be registered in the U.S. Fortunately I'm not in California anymore, but if registering it isn't going to be possible, then I need to rethink my plans for the car.

Dave P,

As it happens I have a Marcos in California, but it is a basket case. However I also have a place in Florida and two friends in Tampa with Marcos.

However it may be worth noting that the early wooden chassis cars cannot, apparently, be registered in the USA, or certainly not in California.

I am based in London but let me have your address and phone number and I can contact you when I am next in Florida in about May.

Also we have a 1 hour video on DVD of the Marcos 50th anniversary which includes a long interview with Jem Marsh about the history of Marcos.

If you would like one they are £10 + postage

Good luck with your search.

Redline www.redlinesportscars.com/marcoscars.php is a good place to start on what prices are. Good luck, importing these cars is not impossible but it is very hard and not cheap!

Thanks
