Dave P

Redline www.redlinesportscars.com/marcoscars.php is a good place to start on
what prices are. Good luck, importing these cars is not impossible but it
is very hard and not cheap!

Thanks

Dave P,

As it happens I have a Marcos in California, but it is a basket case. However I also have a place in Florida and two friends in Tampa with Marcos.

However it may be worth noting that the early wooden chassis cars cannot, apparently, be registered in the USA, or certainly not in California.

I am based in London but let me have your address and phone number and I can contact you when I am next in Florida in about May.

Also we have a 1 hour video on DVD of the Marcos 50th anniversary which includes a long interview with Jem Marsh about the history of Marcos.

If you would like one they are £10 + postage

Good luck with your search.

John,
I'm curious to know why the wood chassis cars can't be registered in the U.S. Fortunately I'm not in California anymore, but if registering it isn't going to be possible, then I need to rethink my plans for the car.

My wood chassis 1600 GT was titled and registered in Kalifornia before being parked until I rescued it.
Berkley Roadsters were registered there, and they have Fiberglass chassis!

Bob & Richard,

I am going on the advice of the man who rescued my 1959 Marcos Chassis number 2. He claims that he could not register the car for road use in California.

I assumed he was correct. Anyway I think you should check it out with the licensing authority in the State where you are living.

I also have a 1969 wood chassis 3000 GT and may well be going to Florida to live so it is a lively question for me too. It may also affect my decision on the 1959 car.

I live in California, and there are several wood chassis cars on the road. I would reach out to Denman Mike [mikedenman@...]. He has a very cool (and fast) wooden chassis car which he has owned and driven on the road and track in California for several years.

How would KA-KA-lafornia even KNOW it has a wood chassis?

Never volunteer information to a Gov. Org. official of any sort!

All they should see is a Vin number and year of manufacture, any wood chassis Marcos is old enough it should be exempt from their BS.

Good day John and Dave,
There is a racing version here in Wimauma, Fl. that is in a barn. The owner
lives in West Palm, I beleive, but the car is, I think, a wood chassis. I will
be glad to scope it out if you are interested. The barn belongs to our vet.

Regards,
Larry

Dave P,

As it happens I have a Marcos in California , but it is a basket case. However
I also have a place in Florida and two friends in Tampa with Marcos.
However it may be worth noting that the early wooden chassis cars cannot,
apparently, be registered in the USA , or certainly not in California .

I am based in London but let me have your address and phone number and I can
contact you when I am next in Florida in about May.

Also we have a 1 hour video on DVD of the Marcos 50th anniversary which includes
a long interview with Jem Marsh about the history of Marcos.
If you would like one they are £10 + postage

Good luck with your search.

Stephen and Richard,

I agree with your advice. However my man in California had already been to the Government Department when he was trying to check-out the car and did not even know what it was. So it was a done deal when I got to it.
Anyway it will be good to have the old racer back in the UK again.

How would KA-KA-lafornia even KNOW it has a wood chassis?

Never volunteer information to a Gov. Org. official of any sort!

All they should see is a Vin number and year of manufacture, any wood
chassis Marcos is old enough it should be exempt from their BS.

Hello Larry,

Send me some photos of your Vet\u2019s barn. And photos of the Marcos, I could be interested.

I am coming to Florida in April or May next year and so we can meet up again.

I will let you know the exact dates nearer the time.

We certainly seem to have stirred up some interest here

Best wishes,

John

I'll throw my hat in the ring as well Larry!! - I noticed your thread when you
mentioned this car a few months ago and never got around to asking you check it
out. My interest stems from the fact that I am involved in keeping a register of
early cars with a few other guys like Per haegermark/Maarten krikken so I would
be interested to know if it is an 1800GT which I suspect it might be. I believe
you mentioned that it was a1966 wooden car set up for racing Larry and I am
wondering if it could be 4099 which belonged to a Mr Dagama in florida?. If
anybody does purchase or obtain photos and details for the car I would be
delighted to be informed so that I can update the register accordingly.

Does anybody know contact details for Gary madsen and Steve frey as we have no
details for Steves car and Gary's details are in conflict with another car so it
would be great to speak to these guys.

Thanks,
            Phil Smethurst (philipbusiness@...)

p.s ...John - it would be great to see a post of 1002 and where she is upto. It
will definately be fantastic to get a xylon back in the UK. Jems old stewart car
is stashed somewhere in the netherlands and the only other car is in Japan under
lock and key so it will be nice to see one back out and accessible for people to
see and enjoy.

John Sutton

Redline www.redlinesportscars.com/marcoscars.php is a good place to start on
what prices are. Good luck, importing these cars is not impossible but it is
very hard and not cheap!
Thanks

Larry,
Thats great, thanks for the info. If there are any pictures around of
this car or if you could get any (presuming Mr Dagama doesn't mind) then that
would be fantastic as I have no pictures against this car and very little
information other than the owner.

regards,
            Phil

I beleive the owner is Mr Dagama. I talked to him a couple years ago but he
wasn't interested in selling it then.

Hello Larry,

Send me some photos of your Vet’s barn. And photos of the Marcos, I could be
interested.

I am coming to Florida in April or May next year and so we can meet up again.

I will let you know the exact dates nearer the time.

We certainly seem to have stirred up some interest here

Best wishes,

John

Good day John and Dave,
There is a racing version here in Wimauma, Fl. that is in a barn. The owner
lives in West Palm, I beleive, but the car is, I think, a wood chassis. I will
be glad to scope it out if you are interested. The barn belongs to our vet.

Regards,
Larry

Phil,

The only pictures have of 80 SNK are on www.motorsnaps.com under Marcos. I am not sure whether you are familiar with my site. There is also a trailer of the Video "Making My Marque" where I interview Jem Marsh
Also lots of Marcos photos.

I am also on the trail of a Luton Gullwing in Canada and news may be forthcoming shortly.

Best wishes,

John
