Robin,

It is quite a short story really. After I sold the car to Peter Atkins of
the Watford Motor Accessories one of his mechanics took the car and shipped
it to California. This must have been about 1969.

The car was advertised in Road and Track in 1971 in Torrence, California.
It seems that it was bought by a man who never used it. He moved to Yucca
Valley and then died. The people who inherited his estate were under a
court order to tidy up their yard when my friend Paul Steinbeck arrived with
a box of chickens (his wife was working for a supermarket whilst doing her
law degree). As it was a big box he went round the back of the building and
saw the remains of this wooden car. It had suffered pretty badly from the
heat and dry conditions as the plywood had de-laminated. Any way they said
"if you want it you can have it as long as you take it away pronto" Paul,
who is a cabinet maker, took it away and then started researching its
background. Eventually he found me and I decided to take a trip to Yucca
Valley to see it.

Having seen it and discussed the possibility of rebuilding it I agreed to
buy it back. Paul is currently rebuilding it, although progress has been
very slow. As you will appreciate it is now a "historic racing car" and
would be eligible for the Nurburgring and Goodwood not to mention the new
series being promoted by Julius Thurgood for GT cars of that age with the
Historic Racing Drivers Club (HRDC).

Paul lives at :

1328 N Inca Tr

Landers

California 92285 Tel: 001 760 364 3897

I believe he is building a second car using the patterns from mine as a
template.

If you can find the time it might be worth going to see him. He is pretty
worn out at present nursing his mother. However I would love to have some
photos of the progress.

Best wishes,

John

Hello John:

Thankyou for the link to motorsnaps.

It is a good site and I will spent hours looking at all the nice cars.

I am new to british cars having been raised in the back of Porsche 356's and
911's.

I have a small car library and was having diffuculty finding books on
Marcos.

This is great info.

Where do you live? Near Yucca Valley ?

Thanks

Robin
