RE: [MarcosManiacs] Re: Web-site update... We're baaaaaaack!!!!!

2002-03-25 by Jeff Caraway

Hi Paul,
Thanks for giving the site a check.

I did get the drivability problem solved (with much appreciated help
from Mike Denman!). It took a while to track it down, but it turned out
to be a flaky ballast resistor and condenser in the ignition system.

I think you and I are the only two members with the Cologne (German) 2.8
Liter V6. I haven't heard of any other cars over here having that
engine.
That's really cool news about the transmission. I haven't priced
transmissions lately, but that doesn't seem too far out of line for
something of this nature. I'd be very interested in the source
information. I may look into this at some point as my car seems to be
developing shifting problems now that I have the other problem fixed.
There's always something isn't there? ;-)

Hope the weather clears for you soon,
Jeff

Jeff,
Don't apologize, the site looks great, and seems to be working well
from what this "Maniac" has checked.
Questions on your car---are you still having drivability problems?
My petrol tank was corroded inside, I took it out this winter and had
it "renewed", Hopefully if this darn Minnesota weather cooperates
I'll be driving it in less than a month.
Are you the only member with a Ford 2.8 V6(German) on our list in the
US? I mention this because I have found a source for rebuilt Ford
T-9 five speed transmissions. From what I've learned so far this is
a bolt in exchange for the four speed with the first four ratios the
same as the four speed but and with a .80 O/D. I may have this
conversion done next winter depending on finances. I don't know if
this is also a bolt in exchange for the Essex(English)Ford 3 Litre.
The source is Pierce Manifolds who offers it in a conversion for MG's
with all the parts needed for the conversion. I was quoted $ 750.00
for just the rebuilt tranny which I've been told is not a bad price.
Just thought I'd mention it as right now I pull 4000 rpm @ 70 MPH,
the O/D would drop it to about 3200 rpm, easier on me and the
engine...
All for now,
Paul
