Hi again guys! silly question no. 10,654...
Can those of you with the Ford V6 engine fitted please tell me if
their cars have manual or automatic chokes fitted? This has only come
up since I started to recover the dashboard and was wondering which
holes to open up or leave closed. My V4 had a manual choke and I've
heard that the advice is to fit the same to the V6.

I finally chose my wheels I've gone for Superlite (minilite style)
wheels I think these look rather good on the Marcos! The Tyres should
be turning up soon as well, 185 70 H r13 Fuldas (\ufffd140 for the set)

Any way must crack on goung to try and get more of the interior
trimmed today!

Cheers

Thanks guys,

automatic choke it is then!

Next quesiton, I recently order the sill covers from Marcos Heritage,
and to my suprise when they showed up there was an inch difference in
the lengths of them? I checked with MH and they confrimed that this
is how they are/were? any opions on this one? can any of you with
metal chassis please do a quick measurement for me!? I have already
decided that the longer ones fit both sides fine but also have to
admit that the odd length ones do fit as well properly with the
shorter one on the right of the car (sitting forom the inside). I
have already agreed to change to two longer ones with MH but was just
intrigues by this one! (hand build cars uh!)

RE: [MarcosManiacs] Choked!

2002-06-17 by Jeff Caraway

I\u2019m coming in on this a little late, but thought I\u2019d add a little.

I\u2019m not greatly familiar with the Ford Essex V6, but do know that the choke is a function of the carburetor setup you choose.

For instance, the 70 MG midget I had, had SUs with a manual choke. I think that was typical of SUs of that time period.

However, my Marcos (with a Ford Cologne V6) has an automatic choke which was typical of the Holley (really a Weber in disguise) carburetor of that period. Although, there are other carbs I could fit that may not have that luxury.

I guess my point is this, the choke system will depend on the carburetor you plan on using. So, you may want to work that out, before you get too far on the dash.

Best Regards,

Jeff

My 3L V6 DID have a manual choke (aftermarket, though, by the looks
of it) - Now just requires two or three prods on the throttle and a
little care while it warms up - Proper Weber carb behaviour! :^)

Cheers,

Mark

Ashley,

Silly question number 1 to you... What spec are your wheels i.e. rim
width and offset, my car is currently running on 13x6 revolution 4
spokes, I have not measured the offset yet but intend fitting the
superlite wheels as well as my car was originally built with minilites.

Hi Lee I am pleased I can add some input to the group rather than
just ask questions!

my wheels are also 13 x 6j (7" overall width) the back space
measurement is 101mm this gives an offset calculated as 12.1+ but the
wheel is marked as a 13P - the PCD is as I am sure you know 95.25mm

I paid £270 for 4 wheels including nuts centre and valves there are
the performance superlite wheels
http://www.performwheels.co.uk/thesuper.htm#

I hope this helps!

Minilites were I think £80 + VAT each just for the standard cast
wheels.

regards

Ashley
