Had to be Roger Kraus Tires! I lived right across the street and
hung out there often. Even went with him on one trip to Monterey
Historics. I have found that Cooper Tires (owner of Avon Tires)
carries a 185/70-13 and a 195/70-13, both "T" rated (118mph
sustained).

Could be, I'm afraid I have "old timers" disease when it comes to some
things. The Cooper tires sound good, what is their rolling height
(outside diameter"?

Mike,

185/70R13 23.21 inches outside diameter

195/70R13 23.80 O.D.

Should be tall enuf. The originals were 175R13. I would think they
were "80" series tires. Correct?

Tires

Maniacs . . .

Someone was asking about tires a little while ago. As you can see from the
picture on the website, my Mantis has the 13 inch Marcos alloys. I am
currently using Bridgestone SF-402's P185/80R13. This is an all-season
tire, so not the sexiest rubber one can get, but the 80 aspect ratio gives
me some much-appreciated ground clearance. The tires seem to do all that I
ask of them, which may mean that my driving is not aggressive enough. I
don't know what others experience has been, but I have to use tubes with the
tires, as the Marcos alloys have been very 'leaky' from day one.

Ron,
According to the chart I referenced in "message 23", your tire has a
section width of 7.2", a diameter of 24.57", and a tread width of
5.1". The original 175SR13s' had a section width of 7.0", a diameter
of 23.94", and a tread width of 5.0". So your tire is wider, taller,
and has a little more tread width.

I just ordered some "H" rated 195/70R13s' that have a section width
of 7.9", a diameter of 24.10", and a tread width of 6.1". So they
are taller than the original, wider by almost an inch and the tread
is an inch wider. Don't have them yet but will let the list know how
they fit.

When I bought my car in June, it had 205/70HR13s' on the rear and
175SR13s' on the front. With that difference the car is level but I
bottom out relatively easily (not fun).

I will take your advice on the tubes. My Jensen-Healey had "leakey"
wheels also. www.rogerkrausracing.com site also has tube fitment
charts.

Your car looks great! Hope to see it in the "flesh" some day.
