Hal,
   Here is the scoop.
We have no actual plans as it was thirty years ago and back then racing
was far from scientific.
However here is what Roger remembers:
The bar was a cockpit wide hoop mounted on the wooden frame immediately
behind the driver and passenger seats. Two diagonal braces attached to the
top of the hoop on either side slanting back and down to meet the frame just
below the rear most part of the rear window. Two additional braces went from
the rear pickup points back to the center point of the main hoop. There
was no forward brace. As my car is a steel frame I chose to reinforce the
cross member where the seat belts are attached and mount the main hoop
there. I have a single diagonal and two rear braces, plus a forward brace to
the upright where the passenger door mounts..

I don't have any pictures here on this PC but will E mail you some when I
get back to Atlanta on thursday.
I would suggest that you reinforce the area where you plan to mount the bar
with steel angle to spread the load as much as possible. Many of the Bars
you see on road cars are more for show than
effect so you may have to give up some esthetics for safety.

Hey Bob,
I also have a 69 wood do you have elec. windows? I am building a
66 vintage racer, and was wondering if you could send a pic. or a drawing of
your roll bar and where you mounted it?

Thanks,
            Hal #5353/#5006

Hal, I believe the roll bar in my car is a factory installed item, I also think it is pretty much for looks not real roll over protection. Mike Dennman

Hal,

Sorry I neglected to tell you also that my car does
not have electric windows. I have the type that you
manually raise and lower them and secure them in the
up position with a small thumb screw.

Bob,
Thank you for the info That is pretty much whar I was looking for. My
69 hac elec. windows I think my car was built as an after thought left over
parts from when the steel chassis debuted.
