Dave,

When I purchased the car the previous owner gave me
the light assemblies and said that they were Vauxhall
Cavalier rear lights. I was not planning on using
them but I also was not planning on a van hitting the
rear of my car.

Please take a close look at the way I have the light
assemblies installed in my car and let me know if the
ones in your car are installed like mine. I am not
sure if I put them in the correct side. The
difference would be the curve in the outter light
lense?

As the saying goes, "They are never really completed."
I have a long list of things that still need to be
done... but that is not going to stop me from taking
it to a car show on Saturday.

Bob
I had to source new(good used)ones for mine and discovered they were
German Capri of late 60's early 70's vintage
I have mine installed with the thicker part of the lens to the top (if that
makes sense)

Re: Bob Magnotti's pix

Hey Bob,

fantastic job, and I like your inspiration for colour! (see my own
restoration on www.marcosworld.com and you'll see what I mean!)

I could not help noticing your roll cage, could you give me more
details about it please?

I'm still trying to work out the correct engine position after myt
little problem with the new engine mounts (see V4 to V6 engine
transplant thread), but have at least now built myself a nice big
double garage at my home and moved the car from my parents so I can
now t last 'just popping outside dear' to work on it!

Cheers

Ash

Re: [MarcosManiacs] Re: Bob Magnotti's pix

2004-10-01 by Bob Magnotti

Ash,

Thanks for the compliments. Looks as though you have
gone through many of the stages I have in the process
of getting your Marcos roadworthy. You also took a
lot of pictures that are great to go through. I also
use your Carcoon idea years ago to store my Austin
Healey. I would go through a process of putting down
heavy plastic on the carport floor, then a large piece
of 3/4" plywood then the car. I would then wrap the
car and seal all the edges then use the Kirby vacuum
cleaner to suck the air out. I would also put in 20
one pound bags of silica gel to control moisture. I
stored the Austin Healey in one of these bags for 3
years and it was clean and ready to go when I opened
the bag.

The Roll bar on my car is a strange item. My car is a
wood frame and the roll bar is only bolted to the wood
package tray. It does not inspire me a whole lot
although I have not yet needed to actually use it.
Maybe others in the group can speak to if it is
actually effective.

I also like your color choice; it does seem to be a
little lighter than mine. The actual color on my car
is a Ford Grabber Blue, which was popular in the late
'60s. I plan on trimming the car in black and using
the orange Gulf Oil pattern/scheme that was used on
the Porsche racecars of the '60s. I believe that on
the early cars the blue used was darker like my car
and the later versions used a light blue like yours.

Keep us posted on how your engine transplant works
out.

Bob
