Hmmmm. Seller says it needs new windscreen and new engine (Triumph 2.5PI). I guarantee that the engine will be the easy part. The windscreen is practically unobtainable. Regards . . . Ron McLeod Marcos Mantis P8/5858

I don´t think that it will be difficult to get a new windscreen for the Mantis 2/2. I got end of last year a list from Pilkington with the still existing windscreen moulds. All windscreens for the Mantis 2/2 are still in the factory, even the moulds for the Mantis XP still exists. No idea concerning the price. I know of 2 other Mantis for sale in UK. On the other hand the Mantis windsceens are totally flat and not curved so normally it should be not a big problem to produce one. We are looking for a long time to find someone producing the rear windscreens (heated) for the early GT (round edges) and the Mantula´s without success, until today. We have now 12 people wants to order such a windscreen, but Rory will not work on this item until 25 orders were complete and it would be very very expensive. Just ran across this Marcos race car, currently for sale in Japan, at the following Internet Link: http://www.racecarsdirect.com/cars/details.asp?id=21070&cat=0 Does anyone recognize this chassis? Is this perhaps the same car photographed in the book MARCOS: The Story of a Great British Sportscar? Have a great Memorial Day Weekend, Andy Seward

Hello Andy, this should be Mantula XP you mentioned and is in the book. The car was build & delivered for Japan, but never raced as far as I know. It should be the same car you find on top of Mark Saxby´s "car of the month". The picture of Mark Saxby´s website is from a EBAY auction in 02.2004 ?? and the car was sold for quite the same price as now offered to the Netherlands. Since the EBAY auction this is the first time this car is mentioned again. So perhaps the highest bidder did not pay ??
