RE: [MarcosManiacs] Rear Suspension

No, unless you go racing, in which case a small amount of toe can be induced
by heating the front side of the Torque tubes, like the Nascar guys do. I
don't recommend it for a road car.

Re: Rear Suspension

2005-11-27 by ukcadsev

Hi John,

Not sure if I'm right in this, but if you are taking a piece of string
from the front tyres to the back, surely if the track at the front is
slightly wider (which I think it is), then you would see this as a
sligh toe-in at the rear, purely due to the wheels sticking out
further.
Toe needs to be checked by measuring the distance between the wheels,
left to right - i.e. measure the distance between the front edge of
the wheels, and then again at the rear edge, they should be equal...

Regards,

Nick

John,

It must have been bent in an accident. You cannot have toe-in on a live axle without causing internal damage to the bearings.

Re: Rear Suspension

2005-12-02 by Don Lattimer

My 1971 steel chassis V6 has a Ford Corsair rear axle which I believe
is the same as the Cortina. 3.77:1 ratio.

John, If you absolutely cannot find a rear axle for your Marcos, I will be swapping mine out for a different unit in the very near future. Mine is from an early steel-chassied car (#5514) and may be what you are looking for. - Donny Lang

Re: [MarcosManiacs] Re: Rear Suspension

2005-12-04 by Garry Diver

The later cars, mainly the 3 liter were delivered with a Salisbury 7HA axle.
The same as the Morgan for the same period and also some of the early Jags
and Aston Martins. Unfortunately these are unobtainable now and parts are
difficult to source. I eventually tracked down a set of bearings and shims
to rebuild mine but will probably change it for a BTR axle from Australia.
This is the Dana version and has the advantage of readily available parts.
It will have to be modified to receive the Marcos rear trailing arms but I
plan to set up a jig for that purpose.

If anyone is interested I plan to import a couple in the new year.
