What is invloved in swaping a 5 speed transmission onto the ford 2.8L V6? This engine is the "Cologne" used in the Capris. What transmission to use? T-5? Type 9? What about bellhousings, hydraulic clutch linkage, and what else to do swap. How about hood clearance with an Offenhauser intake manifold and Holley 4bbl. Is there room for a decent air cleaner under the hood with that setup? Any one have any experience with "go fast parts/mods" for this engine? Thanks for the help, I am purchasing an early 80s Marcos. By the way I'm in the "states", Arizona. Steve V.

Is there adjustment for caster/camber on the front control arms? My car is an "81" and the inboard, control arm brackets (upper and lower) are welded direct to the frame tubes, and not well done welds either, is this normal? I know on spifire/Gt6 you can shim the lower arm for caster and camber, and the front end is Spitfire/GT6 on my car. More questions to come, Thanks Steve V.

Steve, I adjust camber with height adjustable shocks. Castor is what it is. The front suspension is GT6/Vitesse which is different from the Spitfire. Rory at Marcos Heritage Spares has a handling kit for the car but I do not have it on mine. You'll hear different views on the kit. A lot depends on what you are going to use the car for, i.e. racing, show, etc. Lots of info is available on the Marcos Enthusiasts Board: http://p206.ezboard.com/bmarcossportscarenthusiasts perform a search or just view the different boards. Let me know the model and serial # of your car and I'll at it to the North American Registry. Congrats on your purchase! BTW there is a very active and enthusiastic Marcos owner in Ft. HUachuca, AZ. Where are you located? Don #3M5759

Hi,
because a lot of people had problems with all the Ford gearboxes with or without OD, four or fivespeed gearbox, we fitted a LT77 from a Rover V8 with a short remote. Gearbox is quite cheap, no problems with spares, the only problem is the short remote. This part is not easy to find, but there are different solutions for this item. The plate to connect Ford & Rover LT77 was made by CAD, so it would not be a problem to make another one.
