Thanks.  John Fuller took the original film on 8mm cine and we had it
converted to CD and DVD by a very professional outfit in Covent Garden.  I
had to edit quite a lot from it to make it suitable for YouTube, but it
gives a good idea of our trip.  I also have some shots from the same source
for the 1964 500Km race at the Nurburgring and one of the 3 hours race at
Snetterton in 1961.

 

I have tried o find 80 SNK without any success.  The latest I have was an
advert in Road & Track in America in the mid 1970's

It was advertised by a young lady.

 

Maybe it will still turn up.

John,

Loved the opening shot with the Healey Silverstone, I
had the opportunity to drive a Silverstone around
Virginia Beach in the late 1980's.  It belonged to an
old frind, who has passed away in 1994.  Back then old
Dave could not drive the car anymore but he loved
riding around in it.  The car went back to England and
is in the Healey family now.

Hope you find 80 SNK, I would love to go to England
and get a chance to drive the Silverstone over there.

Hi John
   What I found somewhat ironic is the production volume is roughly 
the same as the original. 6 cars verses ~10 models. I have always had 
a soft spot for the Marcos, one because of Frank Costins involvement 
and two the use of plywood for the chassis. Does anyone have photos 
of the monocoque or better still drawings?

I do not think there were ever any drawings of the early chassis.  I have
some photos of the monocoque which are shown in the article on
www.motormarques.com <http://www.motormarques.com/>

Hi Gary,

a friend of mine just did start to rebuild a "Marcos Fastback Spyder" 
from scratch. He repaired the fiberglas on the "ex Derek Bell" 
Fastback Spyder, which seems to be the only existing worldwide. As 
John wrote there seem to be no drawings at all. For the new Fastback 
he took from every wood panel a sample so he has now something like 
drawings. As well we checked everything we could get worldwide to 
find pictures from the wooden chassis so this can help. As well we 
could have a close look to in total 7 Marcos Fastback & Gullwing and
have pics from the chassis from the "Gullwing" the "Fastback" 
& "Fastback low noise" and the "Marcos Fastback Tavenor". Just in 
this week began the production of the moulds for the Hardtop and the 
boot. The idea is to have this car on the road this summer. The 
chassis will be made in Mahagoni and will be painted in- and outside 
with clear paint, so that everybody can see the wooden chassis on 
first view.

If you need something special or even a complete Fastback I think we 
can help you.

Hi John

   Thank you for the link, this is basicly what I was looking for. I 
have an interest in the late 50's and early 60's british builders 
that started to produce road cars to support there racing habits. I 
do not own a Marcos but have several other marques. Currently I have 
a few to many projects but I hope to get some of them back together. 
My TVR Grantura is in sad shape but my two Lotus Elites are both 
pretty close to being put back together.

Hi Cristian 

   That sounds like an ambitious project to say the least. What is 
your friend using for "clear paint". Epoxys are very water resistant, 
Not too sure about UV protection. Clear coats probably are pretty 
good on the UV side but I don't know about there water resistant 
properties over wood. Maybe clear coat over epoxy. Are you going to 
use Recorcinol to Glue the panels together?
