Ok, after years of dithering I have finally applied for my green card and I'm planning to move to the US mid next year. Is there a cat in hells chance I can get my LM registered in the US? As a kit car or something? Thoughts?

I think chances are slim to none. Read these posts on Pistonheads:

Marcoscazzer Kit cars have a percentage of owner construction requirements in most states. This is why most rolling kits come in to the US with out engines; I suggest you check with Department of Motor Vehicles in the state which you are moving to and get all the details, the requirements vary greatly from state to state. Good luck because you are going to need it!! Thanks Stephen _____

Well it will be NY state. I was wondering, if I brought it into canada by ship, drove it into the US and then registered it as a kit..... It hasn't got the original engine or gearbox and there are definately bits of it that are home built. (The plenum for the supercharger for one). I am right in thinking that they don't document cars driven in fron Canada yes? Or am I just risking getting it crushed? --- In MarcosManiacs@yahoogroups.com, "Tess254" <tess254@...> wrote: > > Marcoscazzer > > Kit cars have a percentage of owner construction requirements in most > states. It would be a temporary tourist import and would be out of the country within a week. The US has that option, but then it would be on an official US import record. I don't care if it's on a canadian import record. :)
