A couple of special Marcii

A couple of special Marcii

2009-01-29 by geirooye

Hi folks
I've been part of the forum for some time, and I'm getting the
postings in my mail, but I hadn't really gone into the forum itself.
And when I did today, and saw the pictures there, I came to think of a
couple of special Marcii (is that the right plural form?) I came to
see in Sweden some time ago. In 2004, I think it was on the Anderstorp
Raceway I was wading around the parking area of the pits, and almost
stumbled on top of a Marcos Fastback, registered on Swedish plates.
It looked in good shape and original, but before I managed to find the
owner the car was suddenly gone again. You'll find the pictures in
the album section of the forum, in a folder/album called "Fastback".

Then in 2007 in Karlskoga, at Gelleraasen Raceway this rather
interesting race prepared Marcos LeMans was taken off a trailer in the
pits, and parked beside a few normal historic racing Marcos 1800s. It
was heavily modified and sported the name of Jem Marsh as a driver.
Does anyone know anything about this wonder? I didn't like the shape
of the front much, but the rest of the car was beautiful in my eyes.
You'll find it in the album "Special Marcos LeMans".

Hej Geir,

The Le Mans Marcos 1800 car has been beautifully restored in Sweden. I believe there was a photo of it on Mark Saxby's "Unofficial Marcos Webpage" recently. Yes, it was prepared for Le Mans in 196? with special bodywork and the drivers were Mr. Quick(!) and Mr. Marsh. It also had an extensive racing history beyond the Le Mans event. I would be surprised if there is another Marcos 1800 with a more impressive 1960s-1970s racing history.

The red Fastback is beautiful. With its street registration it would be VERY fun to drive but I wonder if you can see very well in all directions when you are driving it? I hope the owner of this car will see this email and tell us more about his Fastback!

Best Regards,
Andy
