Looking to buy a Marcos in North America ?

Re: [MarcosManiacs] Looking to buy a Marcos in North America ?

2009-02-20 by Donny Lang

Ther was a 1970 convertible conversion that just ended two days ago on eBay. See # 110349822170. It was in Miami, FL with a starting bid of $10,500 and there were no bids. I asked the seller a question while bidding was on, but never received a reply, so I wonder how serious the seller was.
I think Hampton Peterson's 1970 GT might be on the market around the $25,000 range. I saw it this past weekend at a British car show in Boca Raton/Palm Beach County, FL. I thought it was a really nice car - very well done! It might not be an absolutely perfect car, but it is very worthy of putting in a show.
If you leave some contact information, I will certainly pass it along to him.

There are two for sale in Hemmings:

http://www.hemmings.com/classifieds/carsforsale/marcos/

There was one on Ebay recently for $35k on Prince Edward Island, Canada.

Also I believe John's is still for sale in Vancouver, BC and mine will be up for sale soon!

Happy hunting!

Dave,
The convertible Marcos that ended last week WAS NOT the one Hayes has for sale. This is ANOTHER one! Hayes's is yellow and your description applies to his and I have personally seen it several times. The one that recently ended on eBay looks to be dark (BRG) green with a tan or beige interior. Pull up the item on eBay (#260363180252) and check out the car before stating that is the one you were thinking Hayes has. That's why I supplied the item number.
There are several more Marcos cars hiding in the woodwork of south/central Florida than meets the eye. I was not that suprised to hear of ANOTHER convertible down here. I have heard stories of the green convertible in Miami for the past several years, as well as at least two more coupes on the gulf coast of Florida, not including Larry's and Ron's two cars.

The $25000 Marcos for sale in Hemmings is Hampton Peterson's car. Looks
nice. I saw it in Portland about 8 years ago and it was in pretty sad
shape back then. Looks like a lot of work has gone into it.

Dave,
I remember seeing that car offered for sale, but didn't know it stayed in Florida. I may be talking to Hayes later this week , and will ask him where it ended up.
I think that Ron McLeod and Larry Meadows are going to meet at another car show in central Florida (I met them both with their cars last month at a show in Sarasota), and they would like to get Hampton to bring his car too. Three Marcos at the same show would be great! When I bought my car from Hayes back in '01, he had no less than FIVE Marcos on his lot at the same time. I think he is down to only the Yellow roadtser now.

Re: Looking to buy a Marcos in North America ?

I can clear things up a little. The 1970 BRG Marcos convertible that was on Ebay is my car.
I first came across it back in 1996 when it was up for sale at Hayes but it sold to someone
else before I could get to see it. The guy that I bought it from is a pilot in the Tampa Fl
area and kept it in his hangar for weekend use. I purchased the car with the intention of
restoring it but unfortunately have not had the time so I have decided to put it up for sale.

Re: Looking to buy a Marcos in North America ?

2009-02-26 by John Carroll

Hello Group,
As far as Marcos for sale in N.America goes, I did reply to Donny, to aid him in his quest for a Marcos, but no reply.
My aim is to do some historic racing, I would like to do it in a Marcos, ideally my 1964 ex-hillclimber (still in boxes) to do this I need to sell either the 1967 Marcos or my Ginetta G27. I believe I am not asking anywhere near what I have invested in the Marcos, but when you consider I have put on 50 miles since her completion, I would love her to go to someone who will drive and enjoy what she has become. So if any of you guy's are serious about a Marcos.........
Regards to All,
John.

John,
Donny here. Sorry I didn't clarify, but my earlier post was a reply to assist that person seeking a Marcos in North America. I was tagging my reply onto the reply from Don Lattimer, and was offering some additional info on cars I knew were for sale . I have had a Marcos since late 2001, so I am not in the market for another one. If I hear of anyone else in the market for a Marcos, especially a wood-chassied car, I will be happy to to pass your name along. I may know someone that may possibly be interested in your Ginetta (not sure what model he wants), and can put the two of you in touch if this helps. EMail me off group (indigo@...) if you wish.
