You think the 'Watcher' questions get tedious? Try sitting through 10 years of discussing the TB-303 and various clones. Or why analog synths are better than digital, or .... In fact, you post, with minor editing, could be sent to virtually all lists on the net. IMHO, here's what happens: Enthusiastic individual acquires instrument of their dreams, finds out that there's others like him still around, joins up with others, asks all the same questions, gets his machine running, is happy, enters steady-state period where nothing is needed. Stays on the list for the same reason co-workers go out for a pint after work - You have something in common. After a while, you realize that there's not much more to discuss, and are tired of rehashing the same stories and questions every time a new member shows up, and in fact, you really don't have that much in common with these folks other than the item in question. The fact is - the people and information associated with this list has been invaluable to anyone who has purchased a used Mellotron, but for day-to-day needs, a FAQ, some videos of a tech effecting repairs, some on-line manuals and such would be sufficient.
