Their own machine wasn't fixed and the organisation opf the festival called my friend Pierre Veilleux to rent a M400 for that show. Pierre wasn't able to provide tapes that they want because he had custom tapes in his machines at the time. So, he called me to ask if I didn't mind to rent my machine for that evening. I arrived in the hall during the afternoon and fine tune the machine for the gig. John Medesky had a lot of keys for that show. With the usual Hammond B3 and leslie he had a clavinet, an ARP Odyssey, a Wurlitzer electric piano, a grand piano and the mellotron. During the first part of the gig, he played the Hammond and he didn't touch other keys. The second part after the intermission was more "spacey" and he did a lot of "pitchbend" tron parts (his trademark). The show was good but I must admit that I am not their greatest fan, too improvised for my own tastes. Pierre and I talked to John Medesky after the show and said that he liked my M400 very much and it was well adjusted. The following year, they make a show at the same venue but they bring their own machine for that show.
