Help!!!!!!!!

Help!!!!!!!!

2007-04-12 by tronbros@aol.com

Dear All,

Will ny of you with an understanding of Broadband connectivity come to my
rescue as neither AOL or my line provider can advise.

I had broadband for six months without a hitch. Four weeks ago the
telephone line suddenly went noisy when using the handset of the phone and I could
hear the modem talking despite a filter. I exchanged the filter twice but the
problem persists. Now it has become worse as I have to lift the receiver on
the phone until I can hear the modem make connection and then unplug the
handset as replacing it disconnects the broadband reception. Where I live is
rural and the feed to my house is still two copper wires. However, this proved
no problem for the first 6 months. What changed, what can I do, how is the
phone interacting when it didn't before? Any help from the list would be much
appreciated.

Frustrated beyond sodding belief,

Martinge

Sorry can't help, my connection has always behaved that way and my
provider won't fix it, so if you find out please let me know!

Way back in the olde days when I had dialup, I had a lot of noise
and dropped connections. Then the phone company installed new wires
from the telephone pole to my house and the problems went away.

Martin - how does the line sound on the phone if you disconnect the ADSL filter?

Martinge,

I noticed that while I was waiting for you to come to the phone today I
could hear apparent modem style activity in the background, so has a near
neighbour recently messed around with the phone lines?
