Sticky Key

Sticky Key

2003-07-19 by David Jacques

So I adjusted my keyboard via the Mellotron adjustment instructions and
now one of my keys is sticking. What's the best way to relieve this
problem?

Hi David,
When you say sticking - do you mean the actual key is sticking
down? If so check the locator pin underneath the front end of the
key is straight (they can be twisted with pliers). As they are oval in
shape a twisted one can cause too much friction inside the felt lined
hole it locates in and prevent the key returning properly.

Dear All,

I seem to remember that this can also be caused by damp causing the wooden keys to swell.
