Interesting aside: I just finished stripping down my recently
acquired #380 in preparation for cabinet refinishing, and discovered
that some of the components appear to be labeled 379. The two audio
jack mounting plates, for example, have "379F" and "379B" written on
the backs.

Is it possible that some M400 never saw the light of day and were
scrapped before getting out the door - Or were serial numbers
assigned only after the units were ready to ship?
