Where your Mellotron is...!

Where your Mellotron is...!

2003-09-23 by mellotrongirl

Is your Mellotron at your house or at a recording studio or...? Just
was wondering. My M-400 is in my office downtown. I figure that's the
safest place for it to be--away from smokers, curious kids, etc. as
my place can be grand central station. I thought the best place would
be in my basement, but upstairs are all these aquariums--and if one
broke or the washing machine or dishwasher leaked, the basement
wouldn't be a good place. On the other hand, if I had a Mk 2 or a
Hammond B-3 or a Steinway piano or something like that, I'd be more
apt to present them as a piece of furniture --if I had the room!
They'd be at my mother's house--as she has a spacious safe home. I
tend to be overprotective of these things, and I was wondering how
some of you deal with it.

Mine is sitting in a marble fireplace in my bedroom. It doubles as a
clothes hanger and Cat Thoroughfare as well.

Mine migrates around my flat, but is currently situated in front of my
largish record shelving in my front room. This led to the situation where my
prog-loving ex-girlfriend (yes, they do exist) asked me about an album on
the phone, to which I replied, "I'm sorry, the Nektar albums are stuck
behind the Mellotron", before cracking up and spluttering "How prog was
*that*?". :-)

One day I'll have a real music room. Honest.

My M300 is (probably permanently) in my smallest bedroom which I
call my playroom as it has a lovely "Old MacDonald's Farm" border
around the walls, matching curtains and a "Thomas the Tank
Engine" lightshade. These were left by the previous occupants you
understand but there again, all my toys are in there anyway.
To get the tron up there it had to be lifted up the stairs in it's protecta-
muff, unbuckled on the landing, tipped up and slid around the
doorframe on it's side. I hope I won't have to move it for a very long
time.

Mine's at work, which is ok because that's where my recording equipment is. There's also two types of beer in the soda machine.

I build a 28mm model of a 400 and have it on my desk at work. It's real difficult to play and its not very loud.

Perhaps you ought to contact Streetly and purchase "Mellotron Barbie"

Mine's in my music room in the basement. I keep bringing in others in the hopes that one day there will be little ones. I understand it is difficult to get them to reproduce in captivity.

One would think that with all those repro "heads" that the damn thing would breed like rednecks at a barn dance. Like my daddy always done told me, "Never plant the rhubarb next to the alflafa ifin you wants to get rid o' the tater grubs." And to this day, that saying holds true.

Ah well, variations on a well worn theme for me. Yes, m400 is in the music room (smallest bedroom in fact). And yes it does have a Moog on it, but in this case it's an all new Voyager, which is absolutely bloody marvellous, despite having one or two odd glitches. Still, it wouldn't be a Moog if it didn't wouldn't it? In fact, if Martin and John are to produce a new 'tron, I trust they to will incorporate a few traditional gremlins in the design to keep us all on our toes!
