I love the new midi samplers... but I don't think much of
this "pretend" M400. What's the point.... Just use a sampler.

Some of the new churches have digital church organs with huge banks
of fake pipes everywhere. I don't think much of that either.

Makes you wonder what the A/B/C track selector does? I guess it
could be a midi channel selector. Maybe someone could yank out the
midi keyboard and add some real mechanics to this! The cabinet would
probably not have the structure to handle it.

What do they mean by "tempermental mechanics"? My 'tron mechanic is
easy to get along with.

P.S.

The text says "fatar 32-note keyboard". It looks like 36 keys,
starting with G ? No... starting with C. I guess it would cost a
fortune to have a midi keyboard custom made for this "replica" M400.

Is this thing legal? Would anyone be dumb enough to shell out $1000
for a fake?

Waddya mean, fake? These aren't real Mellotrons? I didn't look real close, I
just saw the price and ordered two. Sh*t!

I hang my head in shame.

The only justification I could see in the purchase of
such a hybred would be in appearance. That is, one
would appear to play the 'tron, but really have a
bunch of other digital, MIDI modules triggered from
your 3 octave keyboard.

Except for keyboard players, though - who else would
know? The general public probably doesn't know what a
'tron looks like - and a keyboard player would be
curious until they figured out that it was just an
elaborate keyboard stand.

The ebay ad should say: Elaborate keyboard stand that
looks like a Mellotron...

I have an elaborate tube amp, rack for sale....
