Charles, I think you hit the nail on the head !

Mellotron-Fever is quite infectious too. It begins
with goose-bumps on both arms at early age upon
hearing "that sound." And continues well into
middle-age. ....and possibly beyond......

Further complications are attempts to own one of
each model, own every sound in the tape library,
and listening to the favorite tunes over 1000X .
Also frequent mutterings about who played what/when.

.....Sound familiar, gang?? There is no known
cure for Mellotron-Fever,thankfully !

I myself caught "canal-fever" in late 2001, commencing
to explore/hike old towpath canals in the Northeast USA.

It developed in much the same way as Mellotron-Fever.
Collecting memorabilia, reading books on canals, seeking-out
experts , then taking oneself back to 1850 , muttering
old canaller's songs whilst getting full of briars/brambles.

Cheers, the incurable lover of yesteryear.......Jerry K.

Jerry, Where I come from, we call this "geezing." As in, "Poor old Jerry, he
just sat there mumbling something about Mellotron this and Mellotron that as
we had to powder his ass and fit him into a fresh pair of Depends. He was
geezing badly, I suppose. I guess this comes with his advancing age. He is, after
all, a geezer."

Luv ya buddy,

Soon they'll be wiping the drool off yer face.
