learning Mellotron parts

2004-05-09 by ceccles_ca

For anyone interested in sheet music for mellotron and other keyboard
parts....(CAMEL, UK, KC, Genesis, PFM, Yes, ELP, Gentle Giant), there
are some good quality MIDI files available to download at Gabor's
Progressive MIDI pages:

http://web.agria.hu/kepenu/

These sequencer files can be useful in a few ways:

1) "View Staff" for 'tron parts. The tron bits usually appear in one
or two channels (left and right hand separated sometimes).

2) Play the bass and drum sequences and play along with your keyboard
(s).

3) Use Mellotron part sequences to trigger 'tron samples (Pinder CD) -
Fun to try....but your keyboard skills will not improve by doing
this!!!

My 12 year old daughter has printed the sheet music for Camel's
Rainbow's End (from Breathless) and she plays it with Fender Rhodes
samples. Brings tears to my eyes.

....other 'tron midi's on this site:
Starless, Epitaph, Cinema Show, Hairless Heart, Fly on a Windshield,
The Fountain of Salmacis.

...and just about all the "Yes" 'tron stuff.

If you don't read music, look at the 'tron channel with the "piano
roll view". All those bizarre chords are there and easy to see.

I learned some of the flute parts for Rainbows's End today. Sounds
good with 'tron flutes, while my daughter plays the e-piano.
