Heap (sic) 'tron

Heap (sic) 'tron

2004-10-26 by mellotrongirl

Seems the story of what happened to the Uriah Heep 'tron ought to be
told by members of UH themselves. I'd like to hear that angle of it.
It'd be really interesting if the band reported it stolen, and if
the first seller in Minnesota was legit to begin with.

Kean found the plexiglass M-400 twelve years ago in Texas after it
had been stolen, and I'll tell ya...I'm still on the lookout for Jon
Spencer Blues Explosion's stolen vintage Theremin...lifted from
backstage at a show they did in Seattle a few years ago.

By the way, a nice rendition of Genesis' "Live In New York City" by
And You Know Us By The Trail Of Dead came across my desk last week
as part of a three-song teaser from an upcoming full-length CD early
next year. No Mellotron, but they've got the Gabriel warbling voice
down wired. Next month is the 30th anniversary of The Lamb Lies Down
On Broadway album.

We bought the Heep 'tron from Mick Box over two years ago, restored it and
sold it to the guy in Minneapolis along with the additional frame so that part
is legit. What isn't legit is the scam conjured up by someone in London in
cahoots with someone in Baltimore who lifted the entire advert from Ebay.com and
placed it on Ebay.co.uk. complete with a bogus escrow service who took the
money and ran. It's an effing disgrace!

SADC - a dying format due to it's inherent limitations I hear from a top
level chap.

Yay, the Lamb in SACD!

I wonder will they include that earth loop hum that
they so kindly included on the original (non-remastered) CD -
that fairly rawked....
Perhaps Eno can have a whole 5.1 channel to himself :-)

Should be perfect for mellotron music then :-)
