New Tunes - Mellotron Project CD

2002-04-09 by kenmerb@aol.com

Hi everyone,

I've just uploaded three tunes to the website for the Mellotron Project
CD. You can hear them at:

<A HREF="http://www.tronsounds.com/projectsongs.htm">http://www.tronsounds.com/projectsongs.htm</A>

The first tune is a portion of a song called "Life" by Roc Burgo and
"Healing Ghosts". I've had this one for a while and have been debating
whether or not to use it, since it is over seven minutes long, so I've just
loaded the second half of the song. This uses Mellotron samples, but Roc has
recently purchased a Mellotron M400 ( #1001, which was my second M400) and is
working on another tune better suited to the CD, which I hope to receive
shortly. I've loaded "Life" as a sample of his work.

In addition, I've just received a second song from Jimmy Moore, called
"Court Jester". This tune features Jimmy and Joe on Guild acoustic guitars
and Mark DeClemente on the "formicatron" using the Ian McDonald flutes and
MKII strings. It is a simple song, but very nice sounding (especially in
stereo).

The third tune is actually the final mix of Zohar Cohen's "The
Awakening". This version includes some additional tracks by Noam Rapoport of
ROCKFOUR (<A HREF="www.rockfour.com">www.rockfour.com</A>) playing piano and Mellotron. New Mellotron
sounds in this version include brass, 8 voice choir, flutes and string
section.

Also, I have changed the deadline for submissions. For now, we'll just
leave it open until we get enough tunes. We have a nice collection of songs
already, but I know there are more people out there who want to contribute
something. The main reason I haven't updated the website in such a long time
is due to the fact that there haven't been that many submissions. But the
project is still alive, just coming along slowly.

Anybody have a song using the new Russian choir, or any of the other new
sounds? Let's hear it. Of course, the classic sounds are welcome too ;-).
