Is anyone using a spring reverb on their Mellotron? I've been using an Alesis Microverb or the Kjaerhaus VST reverb plugin. The Microverb has a lot of presets, but none of them sound like real reverb to me. I just bought a Premier Reverb unit from eBay (no lectures please). Does anyone have experience using a Premier or similar spring reverb on a Mellotron? Bernie

They both do a good job of adding a bit of mellowness and boing! to the sound. :-) Other units I have and like are the Masterroom XL-121 (mono spring), XL-305 (chamber in a rackmount form factor), Roland RV-800, and the higher end digital units (Lex 480, Quantec, AMS, etc). The spring reverbs with EQ do a lot to help shape the sound since you can EQ the reverb and mix it back in w. the original and get a very full sound w/o being an obvious 'Mellotron played in a cavern' sound. I have tried a few real springs and simulated springs. I prefer plate reverbs. I used an EMT plate one time (waaay back) and I would like to get one or build one. http://www.sageelectronics.com/bovasound/emt.html http://www.prosoundweb.com/recording/tapeop/plate/plate.php re: digital processors (reverb simulators) - Check out T.C. Thanks all for your input. A plate reverb would be ideal. No place to put it, though. The other units look good based on info I found on the web. Most are a little out of my price range. The Premier 90 will have to do for a while. It should sound good on my Mosrite, too. I also have a plate (Stocktronics) which is, of course, my preferred reverb for 'tron, but have used a Furman sound RV-2 stereo spring reverb, as well. It's particularly creamy and rich without too much splashiness and has a sweepable mid filter that's very flexible. It's also full stereo or dual mono. Very nice on pedal steel guitar. They often can be had for short money on the ebay (I think I paid $50 for mine). -Cheers! -Jack --- Bernie Kornowicz <kornowicz@...> wrote: > Thanks all for your input.
