One more m400 accounted for....

2006-07-01 by kinchmusic@aol.com

Whilst on holiday in the USA recently I visited the Museum of making music in Carlsbad CA.
Among the many exhibits on show, was a sawn off m4OO.
Unfortunately, I didn't make a note of it's serial number.
If anyone's down that way, it would be good to have the number logged, so a permanent record can be made.
Cheers.

In what way was it "sawn off"?

The machine wasn't in working condition. The casing had been literally sawn
off horizontally about half way. Needless to say the tape frame had been
discarded as had most of the electronics.
Only the pre-recorded sound a tron was available to listen to. You could
still see the keyboard assembly and flywheel. Such a shame..

Too bad I didn't know you were going to be out this way. Carlsbad is just a
short hop up the freeway from San Diego. I'll make a point of checking it
out sometime this summer and let you know.

Maybe next time Frank! It's quite an interesting walk through musics
heritage.
Cheers.
