Plan B Model 15 photoz

Plan B Model 15 photoz

2005-03-26 by Peter Grenader

All,

Below please find three links of pictures taken about a half hour ago of
what I'm up to today...and every day for the next five weeks.

The following fotos show three PLAN B's in the various test stages - there
are four, to wit:

The first test is done with only the VCO's core components installed. This
is the PCB on the right with the scope probe coming off it.. This test
verifies that the cores are operational and gives me an opp to adjust the
triangle symmetry if required while everything is easy to get to.

The second test is of the completed board with the main waveshapers and VC
inputs installed. This is the partially assembled unit on the left of the
picture. At this test I verify that the sine and saw waveshapers are
operational and that the VC input ranges are correct . I also adjust the
1v/oct scaling at this point. IF noise is going to pop up, the addition of
these components is what's going to do it so again, I test for this before
everything is slapped together.

The third test is of the completed unit - this is the unit shown in the
center in these pictures. At this test I just run through all of the
operations with a scope and....my ears. This particular unit in the photo is
set to ship to Eric as soon as test 4 is complete

Test 4 is a 48 hour burn in in which the unit runs in an enclosure under
it's own heat . An example of this is shown in picture 3 (!) . Actually,
I've got none in B/I at the moment. Some of the expo boards are potted
before this test (it depends on which tempco configuration I've used - there
are three). The expo boards can be seen in these photos as the little plug
in boardlette that sits on top of main PCBA in the back - he ones with the
round metal can transistors on them, either a the Linear Systems LS318 or
LS312, again depending on the application requirements of the customer.

OK OK OK , foto three is a joke - but everyone's been at wits end lately, i
thought it might help.

I am basically running an assembly line for the next 5 weeks getting these
units completed. With any luck, all 40 that remain will be shipped within
4 weeks time. That is a challenging estimate, but achievable if I keep my
nose to the grindstone. If you've sent a request of status -- there it is!

Sorry for the crossposting

best,

- Peter Grenader

Still shipping! I've asked some who have received theirs to post reviews -
hopefully they will be coming soon.
