How About the Art of Farting?

How About the Art of Farting?

2005-03-29 by Spacemodular

Hi Peter,

What a twisted little psycho drama for what use? I
like the way you squashed it.

I am hoping to purchase some of your oscillators at
some point in the near future. I think a pair of the
Model 15's with a pair of Blacet and a Pair of CGS
would be a wicked intense combination of beaters! Not
to mention a Pair of Mini-waves with RAM expansion...
Then maybe I can take over the world!!!

Still dreaming. But my live Rig is coming together - 2
Dark Star Chaos, 2 Noise Rings, A Boogie, A Borg, 2
Micro LFOs, 2 Linear VCA's, 2 Multiple Attenuators, 2
Joystick Triggers... Meet:

THING ONE - Defender (Boogie)

THING TWO - Invader (Borg)

2 voices of crazed retro videogame modulations each
with it's own distinct filter. I run each of these
through a Boss MG-10 amp. I can distort the shit of
them or play clean and they are small and portable.

Anyway, just wanted to say keep on keepin on and am
getting excited about the more possibillities that
Plan B adds to the mix.

Noise is Best,

Nick

Space,

Boogies and Borgs are THE BOMB. GREAT filters, both vactrol based - so fat
you'll have to have your ears enlarged to get all the sound in.

In about five weeks i'm going to be done with the backlog and will actually
be building units for BCM to stock. THAT will be a relief. My luck, WW3
will start twenty seconds after I complete the last of the stock units for
BCM and I'll vaporize before I'm even able to crack open my celebratory
beer.

...either that or Art Roberts will start dating my sister.

Nick,
Your approach sounds interesting, do you have any
examples of your work online?
Who do you enjoy listening to?

Re: [PLAN_B_analog_blog] How About the Art of Farting?

Hi Don,

I have a Track on the SMOG compilation- "Serge Modular
Music Now" on iTunes from a few years ago - you can
find it easily by searching under Nick Wilson - only $
0.99 (or a free 30 second sample). I also play
electric Violin and some synths on MEME cd's from the
past few years that are listed on Michael Firman's
site:

http://www.mlswebworks.com/memecds.html

I am still waiting for delivery of some of the modules
in my new rig that I am putting together. I do plan on
getting some recordings online after I get my sound
together with it. It will be a two voice assault -
more or less a rhythm voice and a lead voice.

As for listening - well the list would be huge. Here
is a partial list: I like the pioneers of EM (e.g.
Sala, Cage, Luening, Henry, Nordheim, Subotnick...),
New York scene (La Monte Young/Tony Conrad/V.U. - Glen
Branca/Sonic Youth), Eno/Fripp/Hassell,
Kraftwerk/Can/Faust/Neu!/Einstrzende Neubauten, Yello
Magic Orchestra and offshoots especially Haruomi
Hosono. Various Techno - especially the Warp label
(Autechre, Plaid, Boards of Canada). Jazz including:
Louis Armstrong, Duke Ellington, Sun Ra, Coltrane,
Ayler, Dolphy, Miles, Art Ensemble, Henry Threadgill,
other AACM artists... plus many more. Also great
composers such as Bach, Beethoven (can't say that I
really like Brahms or Wagner), Mahler, Stravinsky,
Schoenberg, Berg, Webern, Hindemith, Bartok,
Shostakovich, Xenakis... I also like Nels Cline and
Willie Nelson...

The list is incomplete.

Best Regards,

Nick

Word of warning when using Model15's in Non Doepfer systems..

All,

I've received a couple of letters from people whose VCOs are behaving oddly
when used in non Deopfer/A. Sys environments. It's an easy fix, but it's
got to be done or you will have similar problems.

Either the operator, or more logically -- the faceplate of the Model 15 MUST
BE GROUNDED. If not you'll get a frequency shift when you touch the
faceplate. I did not accommodate for this internally because Doepfer,
Analogue Systems and Analogue Solutions rack rails are grounded, so the
problem is taken care of by mounting the module to these rails and these are
essentially the environments this instrument was designed for.

So if you're using the M15 in another environment, make sure you ground the
faceplate. Not earth, but system ground. There are a few of you who have
asked for modules with Modcam and Frac faceplates - this is your official
heads up to this potential problem!

- P

sorry, to bug you here, sent a couple emails of the last week, without
reply. As you stated these would be shipping the 24th, and I'm only 3
shipping days from you I'm growing concerned.
Please off list, let me know if you have a tracking # etc...? or update me
on the status.
