QTR-Quadtone RIP

Hi all, 

I'm wondering whether it's possible to modify the ink
separation files (those that are Magenta/Cyan) in order to save paper
while making profiles. I would like to make my own file with the full
black line on top (from 0 to 100) and the 5 "100" squares of the gray
inks on a second line (the only ones I need in fact). Is it something OK
or taking the original files is a must?
